This was a major art project supported by the Arts Council and organised by Gloucestershire County Council Arts working in a partnership with a number of artists, arts organisations and other partners.
It was headed by Helen Owen of GCC working with the lead creative partners The Desperate Men outdoor arts company.
The project included river / estuary located festivals at Tewkesbury and Lydney, which created a range of performance and visual drawing themes from th ecology and history of the Severn River/Estuary.
The narrative poem, book and play A Sleepwalk on the Severn by Alice Oswald was commissioned for the project.
The project won a Cultural Olympiad Champion Award was made for the first time to Helen Owen, arts development officer for Gloucestershire County Council, for Severn Project 2009.
